Erin M. Nelson, Psy.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Director of the Behavioral Sciences Curriculum at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. A senior associate of Steven Pitt & Associates, Dr. Nelson has more than 18 years of experience with the firm. She served as Research Director for the Columbine Psychiatric Autopsy Project, and has consulted on a variety of high-profile cases, including People v. Kobe Bean Bryant and Andrea McNulty v. Ben Roethlisberger. In addition to doing numerous criminal and civil evaluations, she consults on a regular basis for the Phoenix Police Department, and was a member of the department's "Baseline Killer" task force.

Dr. Nelson's extensive criminal and civil forensic experience includes psychological autopsy, boundary violations between teachers and students, mental state at the time of the offense evaluations, homicide, suicide, sex crimes, ADA claims, fitness for duty, standard of care and emotional damages claims. Her clinical experience includes inpatient, outpatient, and correctional mental health, and she has co-authored numerous scholarly journal articles and book chapters.

Dr. Nelson earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Argosy University; two M.A.’s in clinical psychology from Argosy University and Sam Houston State University; and her B.A. in psychology (magna cum laude) from Arizona State University. She completed her psychology internship at Louisiana State University School of Medicine.
